Meet the team behind Prizology
Posted on 1st December by Prizology
Prizology has grown from a solo project into a collaborative effort. Here are the people making it happen—from our leadership team to the student ambassadors helping shape the platform across UK medical schools.
Leadership Team

Abrar Hassan — Founder & CEO
I started Prizology after one too many late nights searching for essay competitions and funding opportunities. What began as a personal frustration has become a mission to make medical prizes and awards more accessible. I handle product strategy, partnerships, and the day-to-day operations that keep Prizology running.

Gokul Menon — Chief Technology Officer
Gokul serves as our technical advisor, providing guidance on platform architecture, scalability, and technical strategy. He's also working on side features such as resume reviews and other tools to support medical students.
Directors of Partnerships
Michael Rooney and Alicia Shek work together to build relationships with medical institutions, royal colleges, journals, and societies across the UK.

Alicia Shek — Director of Partnerships
Alicia works to build relationships with charities, student-led societies, and non-profits across the UK.
Michael Rooney — Director of Partnerships
Michael works to build relationships with medical schools and medicine-related organisations across the UK.
Student Ambassadors
Our Student Ambassador Programme connects us directly with the medical students who use Prizology every day. These ambassadors provide feedback, share insights from their institutions, and help ensure the platform meets real needs across different medical schools.
- Kishan Manani — University of Manchester
- Mazin Elkhazin — Aston University
- Amna Faisal — Aston University
- Diya Sethi — University of Buckingham
- Lina Alizada — King's College London
- Salma Salim — University of Sunderland
Why This Team Matters
Prizology began as a focused initiative and has grown into a collaborative platform shaped by a diverse group of contributors. The team brings together complementary strengths, including technical expertise, institutional partnerships, and direct insight from medical students across the UK.
This breadth of perspectives ensures that Prizology is not only technically robust, but also genuinely aligned with the needs of its users. The platform is built to be a reliable, accessible resource for medical students seeking prizes, awards, and funding opportunities nationwide.
Those interested in joining the team or becoming a Student Ambassador can contact Prizology here or explore current opportunities on the careers page.
